The flagship Sassoon Academy has been carefully fitted in to an historic army Drill Hall with more than 27,000 square feet of floor space and an internal height of more than 30 feet in the parade area.

Before conversion the building had a number of occupiers and in its latest, pre-conversion phase was a canteen for the Met Police making it hard to see the potential of what turned out to be a stunning training environment for the world’s leading hairdressing school.

The new facility brings together the corporate offices and two training schools relocated from other parts of the city. With 124 training seats and a 100-seat theatre, the materials palette is subtle and muted with an emphasis on simplicity and durability.
