Zinc Extension

Status: Completed 2015

Client: Private

Location: East Dulwich, London, UK

This Victorian terrace is located on a pretty street in East Dulwich.

Our client approached us to extend the back of his property and reconfigure the rear living area. We created an open plan kitchen and dining room, new WC and a corner for reading and relaxing. The new layout plan incorporated an internal window to link the existing house to the new works at the back. New parquet timber floor was laid and walls were painted in white. The reading area is located within the new extension, a place with views to the garden through a large window and to the sky through a large rooflight.

Zinc was the material of choice so a grey palette was adopted. We created a timber enclosure in front of the existing rear brick wall to complement the zinc cladding and hide the existing drainage and proposed a drainage perimeter of black basalt gravel.
