The Zurich Academy for Schwarzkopf Professional continues a productive and exciting partnership with this international brand.

AOI have been working on the Academy programme for two decades and this latest project represents the middle ground of the range of facilities that we have developed for them - a national academy of 350m2 with a capacity of roughly 60 training places, attracting students and participants from Europe and further afield.

The design pick up on the curvaceous facade of the host building combining two practical training spaces, theatre and social areas. Part of our brief was to encourage a sense of community and to create a simple backdrop to the work being carried out by professional hairdressers.

The design also accommodates the creation of online content in the theatre.

The material palette and final finishes including oak slatted wall, concrete vinyl floor tiles, exposed services, back lit images, white painted plaster and stainless steel. For a number of reasons we were working to a very challenging budget but this did not affect the quality of the outcome and elegance of the finished space.
